Verse Vendor is a literary prose diary by Robert Edwards about selling his own poetry books across Sussex, recording encounters, conversations and independent book selling.

A 200-page volume, 18 x 11cm, designed, produced (apart from printing and binding) and published by the author; published in 2008.

The book is a chronological collection of diary entries recording the gradual fulfilment of an unlikely and eccentric method and manner of sales, by the author, of his own poetry books. It is the accurate account of the realisation of a singular and tailored certification – full of encounters with a very wide variety of customers in an equally wide variety of settings throughout the county. Along the way, several of these conversations prompt or lead to unforeseen and memorable incidents or episodes. An introductory chapter explains the background and build-up to the commencement of these imperfectly prepared travels through uncharted commercial and social territory.
